We loved our experience camping here. The staff were so nice and accommodating. We arrived late in the evening, and they had wood waiting for us at the site. Sadly, we had to check out early because of the weather, but overall, it was a great experience. We had a site by the creek/stream, and it was gorgeous. The bathrooms were clean and well lit the entire visit. Check-in and check out were super simple. Can't say enough about how great this was.
Kittatinny is my go to Camping spot every year for the last 6 years. The staff is nice and the lots are perfect. The area is great and let's not forget you have the Delaware River at your disposal for all kinds of water activities. My favorite is rafting but looking to do some kayaking next year.
The camp site was as expected. Based on just the camp site, I would return, however we also scheduled a rafting trip that was horrible.
For the rafting trip, I arrived to the camp store to check in 45 minutes early. The line was very long and disorganized. I got to the front of the line after about 40 minutes, only to be told that I had to bring out waivers to my entire group for everyone to sign, then wait on line again. There were no signs saying that I needed waivers before heading on the line, or I would have done that first, rather than having to wait on the same line twice. They should have been handing out waivers to people in line to fill out before they got to the front. This happened to group after group after group and none of the workers thought to start telling people to fill out waivers before getting to the front. It should not have taken that long to check in, given we pre-paid.
After finally getting checked in, we walked to the launch point, where I handed a young man my check in sheet. This is when an older man came over, pointed at 4 members of our group (two women) and said, "Since you guys are bigger, you need to use the red life jackets." This was completely unacceptable, and could have been handled a different way, rather than being pointed out for being larger. He could have easily said "Blue life jackets are small/medium and red are large/XL." People know what size they are. There is no reason to point out individual people in front of others for their size.
After the gentleman did that, we were told to go get paddles and head down to get a raft. When we headed down to the raft, we were told that we needed a safety brief. We went back up to get a safety brief. We went back down to the raft and were told they never got our paper that we handed in when we first got there. We were sent up and down THREE times due to their disorganization. As we were waiting for them to figure out where our check in sheet went. we could hear the workers talking smack about our group and "just wanting to get rid of us". It is not our fault there was no organization or clear instruction on what to do. More than half of our group works in retail and customer service and were being very respectful to the workers. It was completely uncalled for for them to treat us like we were the problem. Eventually, two workers apologized and helped us get into the raft and into the water. The icing on the cake was after we were already in the water floating down the river, a worker yelled to us and asked if we handed them our paper, which we already went through three times and it was their own workers that helped us into the water. GET ORGANIZED. What was once our favorite part of our annual camping trip had an awful start, with some members of our group in tears for being individually called out for their body. We wound up leaving the camp ground a day early and are likely not going to return next year.
We recently took our first trip to this campground. Me, my wife and kids stayed in one of the deluxe cabins, because we have a baby with us, and my brothers tented on a nearby campsite.
The cabin was quite nice, very clean, with a nice big bathroom and good shower. There was plenty of room for the kids which was good on the day we got rained out. My only knocks on the cabin itself are that the water was stinky, sulphur smelling. I don't think it's dangerous but we chose to use bottled water mostly anyway. Also the beds could have been a bit larger, I'm not an enormous dude but my feet were hanging off the bottom.
The camp was nearly deserted when we were there in mid October, which is good because in the section that we were in (where it seems like most or all of the cabins are), the camping spots were extremely close together. The hookup for the next lot's RV was literally a few feet from the door or my cabin. If we were there when it was packed during peak season, I would not have been happy with how cramped it was. That was the section of the camp between the main road and the river and I guess it's probably mainly used by rafters in the summer months. The main bulk of the camp is on the other side of the road and is much nicer and more spread out. If you aren't RVing or getting a cabin that's where I would suggest you camp. There's a really nice playground over there that my kids loved, too.
Service-wise everything was fine. The employees left at 1pm on Thursday and left our keys at the door, which I thought was strange since check in isn't until 2pm, but it wasn't an issue for us. Garbage was picked up regularly, the cabin was spotless when we arrived and otherwise I didn't see or hear from staff (that's a good thing imo). Staff in the camp store were nice also.
We had a good time and wouldn't mind returning again in the future.
My family and I had a great time at the camp. Is was very fun. We went on the raft ride and it was very exciting. The swimming area was also great. The kids didn’t want to leave. We will definitely be going back!
Spent a weekend at Kittatiny with a bunch of friends this past weekend. The camp has a quiet policy after 10pm that was not enforced in the slightest. There was a group of people camping nearby that had music blasting until 4am every night. This wasn't just a little noise, it sounded like a live concert throughout the night with a professional sound system. There is no service in the campsites and the store/lodge closes at 10 so there was no way to report anything. I don't think we will be returning next year even though we enjoyed everything else about the campsite. Think twice about camping here if you are looking for a relaxing weekend in the woods.
I mean, the reviews says it all.. this place is run by 18 year olds who do not know what they’re doing. We reserved and paid extra for the lock fee for our camp site, only to find out, the day of, that our site was going to be blocked because of weather conditions. Yet, the 18 year old girls in the front desk did not notify us and we proceeded to unload our luggage and then found out later that we had to move our spot. The managers were all aware of this change the night before. They should’ve at least sent out an email to the campers who reserved sites in areas that were going to be shut down. They should’ve also notified their employees of this change, so these kids can inform us when we check in. Even before arriving at the campground, my friend and I were having issues booking. Everybody, including the supervisors were telling us different information about how many people and tents were allowed on one site. Fast forward to our first night, we noticed the site next to us had like 13 people with 7 tents. The site two doors down from us were blasting music until 3am. Around 2am, I had asked them if they can lower their music because we had a toddler trying to sleep. I asked if they knew that quiet hours started at 10pm, and the guy said “yea, but I’m still going to play the music.” He proceeded to lower the music but did not completely turn it off so we still heard it from a half mile away. None of the staffs check up on the campers/site past 10pm (as other campgrounds do). Like the other reviewers posted, this is a place to party and outdoor club all night. Don’t think you’ll get any sleep here. Also, this place is more expensive than other campgrounds. It’s definitely not worth it. My one star is for their bath house behind their check in office. (The workers were always inside keeping the bathrooms clean.)
I’ve been camping with my family for over 10 years this was the worst experience we’ve ever had! We had to pay a lock fee for our sites which wasn’t honored we were moved from 2 sites crammed into 1 with 3 tents and 13 ppl!! The surrounding …
